BIOGRAPHIE

Biography short: Ruud Satijn (Netherlands) studied Film at the Sint Lucas School of the Arts in Brussels and at the Dutch Film Academy in Amsterdam. His short films The Palace and Silence were screened at more than 75 film festivals worldwide and won several awards. In 2022 he directed the short film At a Glance (Bezorgd) which is currently touring film festivals worldwide Ruud is now developing his feature film debut Windy Point. Biography (long) Ruud Satijn was born on December 17, 1970 in Den Bosch, the Netherlands. He is the son of cellist Anton Satijn After graduating from High School, he moves to Texas where he works on a farm and travels around the country. A year later Ruud starts the HBO school Audio Visual Production in Sittard. The educational program is not outstanding, but there he teams up with a group of people that find their friendship in the love for film. Together they shoot their first short films on video. Among these people are Martin Koolhoven (Schnitzelparadijs, Het Zuiden, Amnesia) and Frank van den Eeden (Een ander zijn geluk). With these two, Satijn moves to the Filmschool Sint Lucas in Brussels, to return to Holland after a year. Finally in Amsterdam Satijn goes to the Dutch Filmacademy. He first produces Koolhoven's first 16mm film Chess, but then teams up with Kim van Kooten who writes his first 35mm short Nighthawks. It is his first film as a director at the 1994 Dutch Filmfestival in Utrecht. Satijn moves on to work for the VPRO on Villa Achterwerk and graduates with the Scarlet Seduction from Filmschool in 1997. After graduating, he focuses on writing first. He also directs commercials and briefly works as a copywriter for websites. His short films The Palace and Silence were screened at more than 75 film festivals worldwide and won several awards.
