BIOGRAPHIE

Pedro Bakker (1952) lives and works in Friesland (NL). At first he was a painter and alternately a writer upon art. In 2010 he graduated MA Artistic Research at the University of Amsterdam. Large coloured drawings have been shown internationally by gallery Witzenhausen. In 2016 and in 2021 he received a 4-year grant from the Mondriaan Fund. In 2017 he was awarded with the Gerrit Benner Prize (Fries Museum). After artist-in-residency’s in China he published his bilingual (Chinese-English) books Innocent (2016) and About Chess Qizi (2018). In 2021 he won an Open Call BRIES and created the first version of the animation Apollo’s Song. In 2022 he started to collaborate with the editor Isabella Giacomelli and made the One Minute These glories now are turn'd to Bayes.
