BIOGRAPHIE

Ranajit Ray is a filmmaker from Kolkata in India. He has studied cinema at “Film and Television Institute of India” in Pune. He has directed, produced and photographed films for Indian television channels and international production companies. His short fiction “Ajopa Gacha” (Story of a Tree) was screened at Indian panorama in 2001. “Clay Image Makers of Kumartuli”, based on the plight of the idol-makers of Kumartuli & “Aoling”, based on the cultural revival of the Konyak tribe famously known for their head hunting expeditions went on to win the National Film Award (Silver Lotus) in Non-Fiction category in 2014 & 2015 back to back. He also served as a Jury member in 2017 for National Film Award of Non-fiction films.
