Jung-Jen Pao

BIOGRAPHIE

Born into a family of doctors, with both his father and brother as physicians, Pao naturally thought he was destined to become a doctor as well. However, his wide range of interests—including drawing manga, art design, writing, and breakdancing—led him down a different path. His initial creative outlet was through manga. Pao entered the field of medicine in college, but after completing his clinical intern training, he reconsidered his career path and realized that his true passion was still in creative work. Therefore, after graduating from the Medical School at National Taiwan University, he switched tracks to study in the Graduate Institute of Broadcasting and Television at the National Taiwan University of Arts, embarking on his journey in film creation. To date, he has won several screenplay awards and has been selected for screenplay workshops. Now, he is progressing towards a career in directing. Pao’s works, "The Soul in My Head" (2018) and "Life" (2021), won the Filming Taipei Award. "Dear Goodbye" was selected for the TIES THAT BIND workshop (2021) and the Taipei Film Academy Filmmaker Workshop (2022). "Dr. Hospice" received funding from the Ministry of Culture (2021) and won the 44th Excellent Screenplay Award (2022). The short films "The Soul in My Head" (2020), "RoomMatch" (2021), and "I Remember I Forgot You" (2023), which he wrote and directed, along with the series "Psycho," also received funding from the Ministry of Culture (2024). His original story "13" was selected for the Taipei Golden Horse FPP (2022) and received funding from TAICCA (2025).
