Berlin-based filmmaker Maja Classen has found success digging into the sub- cultures and social issues of the world around her. After being accepted to the directing program at one of Germany’s most renowned film universities Konrad Wolf, Maja's first success was FEIERN (2006), a portrait of the Berlin club scene during the early 2000s, that was screened at numerous festivals and today is still perceived as an important portrayal of the electronic music scene of that time. In 2007, her documentary film OSDORF about a Hamburg high-rise was screened in the Deutsche Perspective section at Berlinale Film Festival and was awarded the Babelsberg Medienpreis. Her Body*Love Rap Project, a collaboration with queer feminist rapper Finna Luxus and body therapist Mitu, offers rap workshops for kids. With her new documentary films A BODY LIKE MINE and TRUTH OR DARE, she once again immersed herself into Berlin’s club scene, this time exploring queer sex-positive spaces with the aim of breaking down taboo subjects. Since 2008, Maja has also been teaching documentary filmmaking at various film and art schools.
