BIOGRAPHIE

ENG Mattia Ferragina was born in Bologna to an Italian father and Brazilian mother. After attending theatre workshops for over 10 years, he approached cinema thanks to his passion for literature. He started writing screenplays and self-producing in 2009 during a Masters in Arts&Media at the EF Language School in London. In summer 2011, while working as an intern at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, he collaborated on the production of the short films Black Irish by Anika Poitier, Towing by Wenhwa Ts'Ao and She, Who Excels in Solitude by Mako Kamitsuma for the Directing Workshop for Women. In 2012 he made the short film Just Another Sunday Morning for the Accademia Nazionale del Cinema, tackling the theme of the trail of suicides of Italian small business owners. Between 2013 and 2015 he worked with ElenfantFilm, a production company in Bologna, first as an intern and then as a collaborator both in the distribution and production of some short films and commercials. In 2016 he produced the documentary UNLOCKED, which follows Ecuadorean painter Patricio Gustavo Calderon throughout the process of creating a "family" of four abstract paintings for an exhibition in Madrid. Between 2017 and 2018, he attended SAE in Glasgow for a few months, where he made, in addition to some 'school' short films, two vertical social videos for the Nespresso Talents contest: Julie and The Extraordinary Mundane, ranking among the top 10 regional finalists (UK & Ireland). Since 2021 he has been working as an executive producer assistant at Indiana Production in Rome. --- ITA Mattia Ferragina nasce a Bologna da padre italiano e madre brasiliana. Dopo aver frequentato per oltre 10 anni i laboratori teatrali, si avvicina al cinema grazie alla sua passione per la letteratura. Inizia a scrivere sceneggiature e autoprodursi nel 2009 durante un Master in Arts&Media presso la EF Language School di Londra. Nell'estate 2011, mentre lavora come stagista presso l'American Film Institute di Los Angeles, collabora alla produzione dei cortometraggi Black Irish di Anika Poitier, Towing di Wenhwa Ts'Ao e She, Who Excels in Solitude di Mako Kamitsuma per il Directing Workshop for Women. Nel 2012 realizza il cortometraggio Just Another Sunday Morning per l’Accademia Nazionale del Cinema, affrontando il tema della scia di suicidi dei piccoli imprenditori italiani. Tra il 2013 e il 2015 lavora con la ElenfantFilm, una casa di produzione di Bologna, prima come stagista e poi come collaboratore sia nella distribuzione che nella produzione di alcuni cortometraggi e pubblicità. Nel 2016 realizza il documentario UNLOCKED, che segue il pittore ecuadoregno Patricio Gustavo Calderon durante tutto il processo di creazione di una “famiglia” di quattro quadri astratti per una mostra a Madrid. Tra il 2017 e il 2018 frequenta per alcuni mesi il SAE di Glasgow, dove realizza, oltre ad alcuni cortometraggi “scolastici”, due vertical social video per il contest Nespresso Talents: Julie e The Extraordinary Mundane, classificandosi tra i primi 10 finalisti regionali (UK & Ireland). Dal 2021 lavora come assistente produttore esecutivo presso Indiana Production a Roma.
