As a director, my objective is to reveal the truth in ordinary moments and delve into the inner world something of ordinary people. About the Night serves as a poetic tribute to solitary individuals seeking solace in welcoming late-night cafes. The film aims to immerse viewers in an unassuming encounter—a woman arriving just as the 'closed' sign is being turned. Initially, the young barista is displeased and reluctant to serve her, but under the guidance of his mentor, he chooses to extend his service. As the woman enjoys her coffee, a subtle transformation takes place within the young barista, prompting him to offer her a second cup with kindness. This journey is one of intricacy and understatement, inviting significant engagement from the audience. The soundtrack creates an ethereal atmosphere, evoking a sense of melancholy that encourages viewers to empathize and perhaps realize that companionship can arrive unexpectedly. Coffee assumes a vital role, symbolizing the meticulousness and attentiveness involved in crafting a superb "pour-over" brew. Drawing inspiration from an Ernest Hemingway short story and Edward Hopper's paintings, our aim is to shed light on solitary souls in everyday scenarios and capture the profound shifts found within the smallest moments of their lives.
