BIOGRAPHIE

I was born in Kerch, a city in Crimea. When Russia occupied Crimea in 2014, I moved to Kyiv as an internally displaced person due to my pro-Ukrainian views. Before Russia's 2022 full-scale invasion in Ukraine, I worked on Ukrainian television as a writer of comedy series. The sitcom I wrote, "Hromada," won in the USAID PitchUA 2019 socially relevant content competition. My play "The Magnificent Century. Happy" became one of the winners of the IX Drama.UA 2023 Playwriting Competition and Lypnevyi Med 2023 Award. After the 2014 Russian annexation, my mother, father and grandmother remained in the occupied Crimea. In February 2023, my dad passed away suddenly and, because of the war, I was unable to attend his funeral and say final goodbye. Reflections about this incident brought back my childhood memories when I wanted someone completely different be my dad. It gave me the idea for my directorial debut in this short film.
