Piotr Toczyński

BIOGRAPHIE

Piotr Toczyński grew up in a small town in West Poland. He graduated as a Civil Engineer but right after his studies, he came to the realization that filmmaking is his true calling. He started working full-time as an editor in 2015, working for directors and clients from the US, Australia, Greece, Poland, and Germany. In 2018, he started a YouTube channel 'Cut to the Point' (currently with 31K subscribers), sharing editing advice and interviewing filmmakers like Walter Murch, Alex Gibney, Eddie Hamilton, and Jim Cummings. For several years, he wrote articles for NoFilmSchool.com and served as their news correspondent during the Camerimage Film Festival in 2022. Being deeply passionate about filmmaking, he began writing and directing and is now working on his first feature script. He draws inspiration from filmmakers Paul Thomas Anderson, whose work he revisits annually, and Werner Herzog, whose film 'Encounters at the End of the World' made him consider transitioning to filmmaking for the first time. He aims to achieve the pinnacle of Polish cinema by winning the 'Orzeł' award for best picture.
