Jaron Wong was born in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China, and moved to the south to study directing at the age of 18. As a child, he experienced the "July 5" terrorist incident and was deeply influenced by the political aftermath of this incident and ethnic minority culture. After high school, he began to create works. As a child born in Northwest China, he wanted to leave there for various reasons, so he often felt that he was a traitor. During his sophomore year, he created his first short film, No More Gravity At Night.
