R. Ruvens

BIOGRAPHIE

The director R. Ruvens (aka Rubén Pérez) was born on June 6th, 1995 in the city of Albacete (Spain). After graduating as a Mechanical Engineer, in January 2020 he moved to Barcelona to study the Degree in Cinematography with a specialty in Screenwriting, Direction and Editing at Bande à Part School, where he finished his studies in June 2023. With his short film "There is still dust under the Congo", he takes the opportunity to show the reality of child soldiers and receives 61 selections and 10 awards in Spain, Russia, Italy, Morocco... including Best Director and Short Film of the Year. With "¡Quién bailara dos piezas !", "Pito (nisa)" and "El Ratoncito Pérez y la magia del capitalismo" he approaches comedy through his Castilla-La Mancha roots. And "Sip and blow" is his last finished work. A melodrama from La Mancha inspired by Korean genre films, starring Charo Reina, and which allows us to reflect on motherhood, women in rural areas and the stigmas of a town hit by tragedy.
