Kato Alexander is a Toronto Ontario based filmmaker who created the short film "Happy," which focuses on the black and queer narrative through a psychological thriller and horror lens. He is a multidisciplinary artist (Actor, Writer, Director, Producer) with a goal of crafting genre-based films that challenge societal norms. He is the recipient of the 2023 Canada Council for the Arts' Concept to Realization grant, which helped launch his short film into production. By infusing his storytelling with authenticity and innovation, he strives to pave the way for greater inclusivity and representation in cinema. As an Actor Kato has over a decade of on-camera experience working in the various mediums. He is a Second City Improv alumni (Toronto) and 2019 Graduate from the IFA program. He plays the Lead role of Jason in his short film “Happy,” and has performed on critically acclaimed shows playing the role of Flavio in “Sort of” (HBO MAX), Jianguo in “The Expanse” (Amazon Prime), Christian in “EZRA” (OutTV), and has also appeared in “American Gods” (Amazon Prime), and “Workin’ Moms” (Netflix) to name a few. Kato’s voice and face are used to create the Lead Player character in Ubisoft’s newly released Xdefiant.
