Intertwining innovation and creativity in his works, Rudiger Kaltenhauser transforms his mastery of animation and 3D into a boundless canvas where storytelling, innovation, and visual artistry converge. Rudiger’s journey began at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg Ludwigsburg, where from 2000 to 2005, he started learning the intricacies of animation and VFX. Among his earliest creations is the live action/CG short film "TREIBGUT," a standout at Anima Mundi 2006, Siggraph Electronic Theater 2006, and MTV Artbreaks. Following his academic success, Rudiger joined the renowned VFX studio, Glassworks, in London. After two prolific years, he strategically moved to Amsterdam, playing a pivotal role in establishing the company’s first international branch. As Head of 3D at Glassworks Amsterdam, Rudiger steers high-end 3D animation projects, including live-action. He combines a highly detailed, tactile look with bold graphic compositions, resulting in unique and recognisable imagery. His directorial prowess has earned him multiple awards, including the prestigious Cannes Animation Lion for "G-STAR: The Art of RAW," a Best New Director nomination at the British Arrows Craft Awards, and a D&AD nomination for Animation. Beyond his commercial work, Rudiger’s passion for animation finds expression in deeply personal projects where his fascination with an illustrated CG aesthetic bridges the gap between 3D and traditional 2D. The culmination of this artistic exploration is "CRITICAL MASS," a labour of love that unfolded over several years as a personal project, marking a milestone in his artistic evolution.
