BIOGRAPHIE

Alex Lo is a Taiwanese-American filmmaker, producer and the founder of Cinema Inutile, a New York and Tokyo-based production company that focuses on artist-driven films from underrepresented communities. Alex most recently produced two Venice titles: STRANGER EYES (2024) in main competition and HAPPYEND (2024) in the Orrizonti section. Alex's previous directional works competed in Busan, Palm Springs, Golden Horse, winning Best Short Film at the Taipei Film Awards and Minneapolis-St. Paul Film Festival. They received a MA in Cinema Studies from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and are an alumnus of EAVE's Producer Workshop and the Golden Horse Film Academy. Alex’s further producing credits include AN UNFINISHED FILM (2024), BEING MARIA (2024), and VIET AND NAM (2024), all three of which premiered in the Official Selection of Cannes Film Festival, SOME RAIN MUST FALL (2024), which won the Special Jury Award in the Encounters competition at Berlinale, and THE SETTLERS (2023) which won the FIPRESCI prize in Un Certain Regard at Cannes and was selected as Chile’s entry to the Academy Awards.
