Carlos Alejandro Rodriguez Halley

BIOGRAPHIE

Graduated in 2014 from the Faculty of Theatre at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, Carlos A Halley has built a distinguished career spanning theater, film, and television. He is a member of El Público, one of Cuba’s most renowned theater companies, directed by Carlos Díaz. His work as an actor includes leading roles in the feature films Caballos (2015) and Fiódor en el fiordo (2016), both directed by Fabián Suárez. In Havana’s independent theater scene, he performed in El mal gusto (2015), written by Rogelio Orizondo and Marcos Díaz. His debut as a filmmaker came in 2018 with the short fiction film Un chino cayó en un pozo, for which he served as writer, director, and producer. The project was awarded the Norwegian Fund for Cuban Cinema in 2017 and received the Jury Prize at Bannabá Fest – Panama’s Human Rights Film Festival – in 2020. It was also selected for the Muestra de Jóvenes Realizadores in Havana (2018), Almacén de la Imagen (Camagüey), and the Gibara International Film Festival in 2020.
