In 1956, French anti-colonialist director René Vautier gets in contact with members of the Algerian National Liberation Army; he wants to film, in the Aurès-Nementchas area, images on the reality of the struggle of the Algerian people. The Algerians give their assent. For the director, the consequences will be: three wounds, two years in prison - with 19 months in a death row cell; and one film, "Algeria in flames".
