Samba was born during parties at Aunt Ciata's yard, in Praça XI, Rio de Janeiro in the 19th Century. And it grew under the wing of women who dedicated their lives to Samba beats, women such as Aunts Eunice, Doca and Surica - the old-time faith bearers of Portela Samba School.
