SYNOPSIS

Horror films emphatically utilize women's screams and instruct us that this is the most identifiable signifier of fear. By combining spoken text with manipulated imagery, the voice becomes one of a paradoxical woman, who doesn't scream and is resistant to the images that seek to scream for her.
