Talip, a retired language teacher, tries to convince the local schoolchildren to perform Chekhov's 'Seagull' in Russian. It seems that only Lake Issyk-Kul is willing to listen to him. But this lonely, old outcast, a devoted fan of Russian culture, poor but full of energy, will go to any lengths to defend his idea.
