Mae, a second generation Vietnamese teenager in the US has an obsessive admiration for Angelina Jolie. Mae's grandmother is over-protective of her granddaughter's look, especially her long, unruly black hair, which has been kept untouched for years. One day, Mae passes by a hair salon's new advertisement showing her idol with short hair. She walks in, and a flattering glorification begins.
