A small group of people go into the woods with a chainsaw; that's how it all begins. When a community is struggling with addiction, many people are desperate and require a fast outcome. An old growth tree in the Pacific Northwest can be sold as firewood for a few hundred dollars. It doesn’t sound like a ton of money, but it's really fast money. A commissioned film for The Atlantic.
