SYNOPSIS

When Jina, a Kurdish poet, escapes from her homeland in Western Iran, she takes her beloved birthday gift - the Farsi translation of "Girl with a Pearl Earring"- with her, on a journey to seek political asylum in Australia. She chances on a community library, and the invitation to "take a book, leave a book" forges a poignant connection between her new environment and the home she has left behind.
