SYNOPSIS

Germany 1966. Young Thomas lives with his grandmother in East Berlin. As a small boy he witnessed his mother being sectioned and is tormented by a strong longing for his father, who emigrated to the West before the Wall was built. He plans his escape, which will change his life forever but also that of border guard Johannes Bauer.
