SYNOPSIS

1789. While in Paris revolution promises to liberate the people, young Cornelia is trapped in her patriarchal home in rural Germany. She decides to risk it all, as she flees to pay a stranger to marry her and take her to Paris. As she meets her future husband, Cornelia discovers that revolution is not meant for everybody - so she must break free once more. But this time at a much higher cost.
