SYNOPSIS

Syncope which depicts a musical journey involving performers who traverse distant lands in search of sound, Jun focuses on individuals and entities existing beyond the realms of speed, capital, and modernity. Exploring those who diverge from the pace of modernization characterized by speed, efficiency, and rationality, Syncope weaves together the stories of women crossing borders and immigrating, such as Korean adoptees in France and Koreans residing in Japan, through the medium of sound. These narratives, mediated by Gamelan, the traditional ensemble music of Indonesia performed with percussion instruments, are experienced through synesthetic sound and touch, transcending conventional modes of perception.
