SYNOPSIS

For 40 years, I have gotten into the habit of returning to the country regularly; over time my identity has been woven into these perpetual comings and goings. Thus, it was imposed on me, not a “double absence” according to Abdelmalek Sayad (Algerian sociologist 1933-1998), but rather an inescapable double presence. This film is a dive into my village, a visit to my family, it reveals the antagonism between the aspirations of one's youth and the memories of one's elders.
