SYNOPSIS

Every year, in the Basilicata region of Southern Italy, an arboreal wedding is held to celebrate the arrival of spring. In the remote town of Accettura, elderly people carefully select the trees and then carry them down the mountain to be married. This ancient pagan ritual celebrates the renewal of nature and honours the goddess Maia. Here humans and nature perform an ambiguous dance in order to reach heaven.
