SYNOPSIS

Is unconditional love an escapist dream? In snowy no man’s land in the North of Germany at the Baltic Sea border towards Denmark lies a floating bordershop-container with chains attached to a ferry terminal. Here Kaisa, the shop manager, and her employees fill the shelves every day with their traveling customers’ dreams of escapism: alcohol, cigarettes and candies. For the employees life in the bordershop is full of peace and harmony except for the ongoing noise and vibrations of the construction site next door, where a tunnel is built, a near future without border crossing and border shopping, a future Kaisa doesn’t want to think about. When day shifts to night, the container turns again into their personal paradise, where love comes as any other duty-free good. But this night the noise and vibrations suddenly stop. In an attempt to make their universe last forever, Kaisa casts off the chains to shore. They float out at sea, but can escapism save them?
