War, dispossession, deportation, and slavery linger in the Yaqui memories. Serapio, a young Yoeme, questions whether resentment is inherited. He turns back to 1900 and embarks on a journey from Yaqui land to Yucatán, the destination for those deported as slaves to work in the henequen plantations. The purpose of Serapio's journey is to traverse the places his ancestors passed through, attempting to understand an event that struck his entire people. Between walks, train cars, and ships, a journey begins.
