Maria Gonzalez has never heard the sound of her father's voice. He passed away before her third birthday, leaving her with only photos, a few high school medals he had won, and pierced ears—done by him. When Maria learns about the potential existence of archival footage featuring her father, she becomes hopeful for the chance to hear his voice and see him move for the first time. Determined, she and a group of her friends travel from Atlanta back to her hometown of Cape May, New Jersey. There, she reconnects with family and friends who were closest to her father, Mario, in a quest to find the tapes and finally see him on screen. Throughout this emotional journey, Maria confronts the truth about who her father was and the incident that led to his untimely death. She hopes that by seeing him, she can fill the void in her life, transforming him from a distant mystery into a cherished memory.
