Samra (38), a heartbroken Tunisian director finds the perfect male lead for her new romance movie, but during rehearsals, the young actor Hedi (24) begins to suspect that his role may not be a fictitious one. In the aftermath of being abandoned by her husband, the delusional Samra plans to rewrite her own narrative, leaving audiences guessing where the script ends and true emotions begin. Filled with North African music and dance, "Samra's Dollhouse" is an entertaining yet heartbreaking short film that delves into how much artists are willing to sacrifice for their dreams and how far people in power will go to take advantage of it. Drawing visual inspiration from Pedro Almodovar’s works and the absurdist social satires of Ruben Östlund, this film is about a strong woman’s sorrows trying to keep it together despite being at the brink of emotional collapse. The film further explores themes of migration, power, and control, making it a distinctly Tunisian story. The film was shot entirely in one location in the Medina at Dar Hayder.
