SYNOPSIS

The Wreck of Harold Murphy is a 20-minute short narrative drama that follows grizzled musician and local legend Harold Murphy. Harold, a Windsor-based singer-songwriter, has spent decades honing his craft, earning a devoted following in the Rose City and collecting the scars of a hard-touring life. Now nearing fifty, he’s still waiting for that elusive breakthrough, as his battles with depression deepen and his debts pile up. When he's offered the chance to retreat to a cabin on Pelee Island, it seems like the perfect opportunity to recharge and find inspiration to write one last song to pull him out of obscurity. Amidst the island’s serene beauty, Harold struggles to focus, distracted by cicadas, waves, and the relentless noise of his thoughts. As he learns to channel his creative energy outward, he reconnects with his music and rediscovers the power of connection, ultimately finding solace in finishing a new song.
