SYNOPSIS
In a small village in the heart of Spain, every year on a winter night, riders purify their horses by crossing through fires, a tradition that has been upheld for over 500 years. For several years now, the villagers have been facing a wave of hostility from animal rights associations. These organizations accuse them of animal cruelty against the horses and question the relevance of this festival in the 21st century. 'Las Luminarias' follows the course of this festival from the villagers' perspective. They share their love for their animals and open up about their fears and sorrows.
