SYNOPSIS

Wartime Kyiv, Ukraine. A father helps his daughter practice driving. They are each other's only relatives and have a strong bond, but many differences of opinion. The driving lesson ceases to be ordinary when the father is summoned to a checkpoint. Driving Lessons is the debut short film by Ukrainian director Anastasiya Gruba, who previously worked as a screenwriter. She is a Film Independent GMM fellow and a participant of the NGO Contemporary Ukrainian Cinema. Her projects have been featured in the European Short Pitch 2020, Ukraine in Focus Pitching Session during Marché du Film 2023, and Global Media Makers LA Residency 2024.
