SYNOPSIS

Laly, a lonely housewife in coastal Kerala, has been waiting from her husband, Mohan, a migrant labourer in the Gulf, to return home for many years. With weekly phone calls to keep her company, and a rare visit, she is trapped in a mundane routine structured around his absence. Their eight-year-old daughter, Vini, listens to his voice on tapes filled with advice from afar. Though they speak on the phone every Friday night, Laly finds it hard to picture Mohan's face lately. Then, one fateful Friday, amidst disturbing news of missing migrant workers in Dubai, the phone does not ring. Restless nights once filled with Mohan's voice usher in a new day for Laly. An India/Germany co production, this film was self-funded and self-produced in Kerala in December 2023. It was shot over three days with an entirely local crew, while the post production was a global endeavour, including an Editor in Brazil & Composer in Malaysia.
