SYNOPSIS

A Vocal Landscape is a hyperrealistic VR short film that explores the strange anatomy of a conversation. The spectator is taken on an intense, dreamlike journey through a snippet of a late night conversation between two people. 

Trying to hold on to a moment of connection through the use of words, the characters find themselves in a complex dynamic where it becomes increasingly difficult to understand the other. 

As a spectator you’re present with the two in an ever-changing room where hyperrealistic visuals highlight the imaginative journey each of them take as well as the unspoken interaction between them - giving you a heightened sensoric experience of the uneven paths of communication.
 A Vocal Landscape has received an Epic Megagrant and a partnership with Microsoft Mixed Reality Capture Studio in San Fransisco. It was premiered in Venice International Film Festival in 2023 and in 2024 it's been presented in New Images Festival, Kaboom Animation Festival, FIVARS, SIGGRAPH Denver and the upcoming SIGGRAPH Asia in Tokyo as well as the BAFTA Qualifying Aesthetica Festival in York. A Vocal Landscape won the Best VR award at the PFCAT [Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation and Technology] and has just been nominated for the European XR Award: Crystal Owl at the upcoming Stereopsia.
