NGM is a documentary that explores the intense and profound relationship between the city of Popayán (Colombia) and the sculptor Edgar Negret Dueñas. This connection is reflected in the origins of his family, the influence of religious art, architecture, poetry, and the city’s significant intellectual environment between 1944 and 1948—a pivotal period in the artistic career of this great modern sculptor. Negret emerged as the most original, authentic, and imaginative of all Payanés artists throughout history, yet he remains largely unknown and misunderstood by younger generations
