Teacher Beta Ferreira receives a gift from a student in the classroom: the book Quarto de Despeção - diary of a favela resident, by Carolina Maria de Jesus. The power of the words in this work reverberates in such a way that it leads Beta to begin a journey to retrace the writer's steps. The teacher leads the film tour to show, in the city of São Paulo today, the marks of the timelessness of writing in the streets, in places and in memory. You are on the right path is anchored in the power of the word and in “lines that flow and discuss life, the favela, the ghetto”, as singer-actress and researcher Roberta Estrela D’Alva sings, who makes a special appearance in the film. Adriana Jesus and Eliane de Jesus, granddaughters of the writer, also participate. On the border between documentary and fictional, the short film disseminates the legacy of one of the greatest Brazilian authors: Carolina Maria de Jesus, or Bitita, an artist capable of transforming the experience of hunger and poverty into literature. The film's script is loosely inspired by the book Quarto de Eviction - diary of a favela resident, by Carolina Maria de Jesus.
