SYNOPSIS

This is an animated short film that focuses on illness, depicting the coming-of-age journey of a young university student suffering from a retinal disease. Through extensive narration and sound design, the film portrays five years in the life of a Chinese family. It is created using frame-by-frame animation with oil painting on glass, supplemented by a small amount of live-action medical footage. The concept for the short film emerged from the director’s reflection on his own experience with illness—after entering university and undergoing a shift in identity, he was once again confronted with the gap between family and society, which evoked a deep sense of confusion. The film serves as a visual expression.
