SYNOPSIS

Alternating between the playful, wayward and disquieting, this film emerges from eclectic personal and public archive material of Andrea’s life until they became estranged from their parents aged 30. There is a fragility in material memory, for its fragments infer the unseen and undocumented. Andrea emerges from a lineage of abandoned parents, geopolitical displacement and repeated cycles of violence. Such prolonged behaviour, a particularly intimate form of intergenerational trauma, led to family alcoholism and various degrees of transgression. With a hesitant clarity, the journey shown here seeks a rupture with what has preceded it, seeding the possibility of living a life on one’s own terms.
