SYNOPSIS

Italy, 1949. Adele (10) has lost her mother. After her father is arrested, she is taken in by her aunt and uncle, Teresa and Vittorio — a well-off couple with progressive ideals. Teresa is an educated woman, about to get her driver’s license, and their two children, aged 9 and 10, attend school regularly. Adele, on the other hand, has always worked to help her father and never learned how to read or write. Her first evening in the new house is unforgettable: in the living room, a technician is installing a telephone — one of the first models to reach the market. The three cousins, fascinated, throw themselves into exploring this incredible new object...
