SYNOPSIS

Anu, a 22-year-old trans woman, lives a fragile existence in her urban apartment complex. After a disheartening job interview, she is unsettled the next morning when a knock at her door reveals her estranged father. Reluctantly, she lets him in, and their reunion unfolds with raw intensity. Within the cramped flat, years of silence and unresolved pain resurface. Believing he has come to take her back to the village and “fix” her, Anu confronts him with deep resentment—accusing him of abandoning her and her mother in childhood. To her surprise, he reveals he is not there to reclaim or change her, but to share his decision to renounce worldly life and become a monk. Through painful yet honest exchanges, father and daughter lay bare their wounds. He admits his failures, and as a once-troubled man now transitioning toward monastic life, he slowly begins to understand her truth. At a crossroads, he leaves Anu with the address of his monastery before walking away into a new life. As he receives his monk’s robe at sunrise in the mountains, Anu awakens in a hospital room after her gender-affirming surgery. Bathed in morning light, she gazes out at the city. In their separate transformations, both find fragile acceptance—stepping into renewal, apart yet quietly connected.
