Juliette, 13 years old, lives alone with her mother in a small suburban house. Her mother is worn out by the struggles of everyday life and by the absence of a father. One morning, Juliette skips school and decides to run away. She gets lost in the forest and collapses from exhaustion at the foot of a tree. She later wakes up in a mobile home, rescued by Georges, a man in his fifties who works as a chief pilot at a small airfield. He has to leave and locks her inside. Juliette starts searching through Georges’s belongings. In a trunk, she discovers a grimoire containing a tale, a photograph, and various objects that once belonged to a certain Edith Horowitz, thus bringing a heavy past back to life.
