SYNOPSIS

When Vera’s home suddenly burns down, it becomes her only purpose to find her cat - likely lost in the fire. Her husband and mother-in-law each cope with the trauma their own way. Her mother-in-law busies herself with cleaning the ruins and offering cake to the firefighters, while her husband is paralysed by the destruction of their home and would rather take refuge in his childhood home than face the situation. Vera, however, cannot let go. She becomes isolated in her grief.  The search through the ruins and Vera’s journey through the night forces her to confront not only loss, but the suffocating dependence on parent figures that has defined her life so far.
