SYNOPSIS

Michael Jackson is not dead. Fred, 26, has taken on the wild challenge of bringing him back to life mentally, physically and artistically. He is ready to sacrifice everything to create the perfect illusion. Scarred by years of bullying, Fred found his lifeline and his sense of purpose by taking refuge behind Michael’s image. He throws himself body and soul into a superhuman routine to become the best Michael Jackson impersonator in the world. But Fred wants to go further. The complete metamorphosis begins as he travels to Turkey for surgery to bring him closer to his idol while drifting further away from himself. This choice divides those around him, yet also marks the first step into a new chapter. Now ready to face the world in the guise of his idol, Fred sets off. He builds a small, devoted team around him and lands his first contract. At last, he shines under the spotlight. And yet one question lingers: despite the triumph, has he finally found peace? The short documentary Headfirst plunges us into the real and utopian worlds of a young man whose fragility mirrors that of his idol. But as Fred continues to dissolve into Michael’s image, is he at risk of disappearing for good?
