SYNOPSIS

In Mande culture, before the wedding ceremony, the bride isolates herself in a room for three days a suspended moment in time during which she prepares for her new life. This short documentary explores this ancient ritual by delving into the intimacy of this transformative period. Through the bride’s eyes, the film follows her withdrawal from the outside world as she embarks on a personal journey of reflection and renewal. Surrounded by the women of her family and community, the bride receives blessings, guidance, and moments of silence in which she is left alone with her thoughts. The room both enclosed and protective becomes a sanctuary of metamorphosis, a symbolic space where she reinvents herself before joining her husband.
