Alessandra Pescetta is a director, videoartist, producer and scriptwriter. Born in Italy, she graduated in Painting at the Accademia of Belle Arti in Venice. She directed many music videos for renowned Italian and International Artists, as well as commercials. Alessandra is a professor at Centro Sperimentale in Milan (National Film School). Since 2004, she coordinates the artistic company La casa dei santi with Giovanni Calcagno, producing and directing fictional films, theater plays and art videos. In 2003 she won the Italian festival for Communication as Best Director of the Year with the commercial Campari Mixx. In 2005 she won the Bronze Lion at the Cannes Advertising Festival with Reverse, a social movie about anorexia. Since 1996 she has directed short films and video art works. In 2015 she directed her first feature film, “The Nightless City”. She has participated in numerous international film festivals with her works of video art and cinema, including the Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, in 2017. She has received numerous awards for experimentation (Italian Nastri d’Argent in 2018). In May 2019 she was selected to represent Italy and the city of Rome, as part of the UNESCO network, for the Film Production Residency in Busan. Here, she directed “In the land of Morning Calm” and a selection of her films was screened during the Busan Intercity Film Festival. Alessandra is now working on the development of her second feature film.
