Gitanjali is a Chicago-based filmmaker currently in post-production on a short drama, Bat. In October 2018 she completed her previous short drama, Breathing above the Treeline. She is a lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is adjunct faculty at Columbia College Chicago. She teaches beginning and advanced screenwriting courses as well as classes in filmmaking foundations. In addition she is currently designing a course foregrounding narrative mapping and worldbuilding called 'Structuring Narrative and Building the Imagined World.' It will run at Columbia College Chicago Fall 2019 and at the School of the Art Institute in Spring 2020. In April 2019 she completed her first academic article to be published in a volume called Gender and Narrative jointly published by Columbia College Chicago and the University of Palermo, Buenos Aires. The article offers a reconceptualization of the hero's journey for the female protagonist. Gitanjali also presented her first paper on viewer-interactive media using Soderbergh's Mosaic as a case study at the CILECT Congress 2018 in Mumbai, India. She earned an MFA in filmmaking from Columbia University in the City of New York.
