Tom Shoval Writer and Director Israeli film-maker and screenwriter Tom Shoval has won rave reviews for his sharp visual style and storytelling abilities. He was co-founder of the Baboon Group of young independent short-film directors, which broke new grounds in the Israeli cinema industry and independent film making. In 2007, he graduated from Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film & TV School. Shoval’s award-winning, short films, including The Hungry Heart (2005), Shred of Hope (2007) I will drink my tears (2011) and Justification (2016) have been screened at film festivals worldwide and won numerous awards. His debut feature, Youth (2013), a social drama and thriller depicting the challenges of middle-class life in Israel, premiered at the Berlinale and was, among other awards, named Best Film at the Jerusalem Film Festival. Aya (2012) a short film he co-wrote was nominated for the academy awards (Oscars). Milk and Honey (2015) a TV series he created and wrote with Danni Rosenberg was successfully aired in YES cable Israeli TV. The series has been sold and adapted in Germany and France among others. Alejandro González Iñárritu two times academy award winner (Birdman, The Revenant) has personally chose Shoval as his protégé and produced Shoval's new feature film Shake Your Cares Away, staring Berenice Bejo which won the main award at the Jerusalem film festival 2021. The series was selected in official competition in "Series Mania" film festival and won the Acting award. He is currently in post-production on two films he wrote and directed; the short film "Katya's Hand" and his third feature length film "Life on Credit" , both to be delivered during 2024. Currently in post-production the feature film, Dead Language - he co-wrote and directed by Mihal Brezis and Oded Binun. He is panning the new scripts for the new Michel Franco film "Shoshana" and the new Jake Paltrow's film- "Seagulls".
