BIOGRAPHIE

Biography Oliver Stiller Brief: Oliver Stiller (41) studied International Management. After realizing short films such as "Vagabund", he is currently writing a screenplay for the German-Mexican scenic movie “Das Leben hat noch Schulden”. The short documentary "Esperanza 43“ directed by Oliver Stiller won the German Human Rights Movie Award in 2016 in the short movie category. Biography Oliver Stiller II was born in September 1977 and grew up in Dahlenburg, a village in northern Germany. I completed my studies of International Management with the Bachelor degree of Business Administration (BBA) at the University of Flensburg. During my studies I had the opportunity to spend a semester at the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. I wrote my thesis about "The Financing of Independent Film Production" using the example of the German “Jost Hering Filmproduktion”. Realizing my own film productions I gained experience as a director. I've learned the craft of making movies through internships (for example at the TV-Station “Canal 23” at the Estudios Churubuscos/ Centro Nacional de las Artes in Mexico City) and collaborations with small film productions. Graduating the career as a media designer helped me to improve my cinematic skills. Since 2006 I've created travel documentaries on a cruise ship in more than fifty countries as the director, photographer and editor. With the help of these earnings I financed the realization of my recent screenplays and short films. The most important milestones have been the invitation for me as the only non-film-student to the famous First Steps Awards in Germany with my Serb-German short film "Vagabund", as well as the premier of my Mexican short film "The Cherry on the Cake" at the 9th Aljazeera Documentary Film Festival, the most important documentary film festival in the Arab world. “Esperanza 43” won the Deutscher Menschenrechts- Filmpreis (German Human Rights Movie Award) in December 2016. In September 2014 I had the opportunity to hold a screenplay and direction master class at the festival "Encuentro Artístico de Zapopan" in Zapopan and Guadalajara/ Mexico. In addition to the work on the film “Esperanza 43” I am currently working on the script for the German-Mexican movie "Das Leben hat noch Schulden".
